Stevie Wonder I Wish Lyrics
Looking back on when I
Was a little nappy headed boy
Then my only worry
Was for Christmas what would be my toy
Even though we sometimes
Would not get a thing
We were happy with the
Joy the day would bring
Sneaking out the back door
To hang out with those hoodlum friends of mine
Greeted at the back door
With boy thought I told you not to go outside
Tryin' your best to bring the
Water to your eyes
Thinkin' it might stop her
Grom woopin' your behind
I wish those days could come back once more
Why did those days ev-er have to go
I wish those days could come back once more
Why did those days ev-er have to go
Cause I love them so
Brother says he's tellin'
'Bout you playin' doctor with that girl
Just don't tell I'll give you
Anything you want in this whole wide world
Mama gives you money for Sunday school
You trade yours for candy after church is through
Smokin' cigarettes and writing something nasty on the wall (you nasty boy)
Teacher sends you to the principal's office down the wall
You grow up and learn that kinda thing ain't right
But while you were doin'it-it sure felt outta sight
I wish those days could come back once more
Why did those days ev-er have to go
I wish those days could come back once more
Why did those days ev-er have to go
On this classic track, Stevie Wonder is talking about some of the hard lessons he learned as a kid and how he misses those good old days. Ain't it funny how some of our most punitive and punishing moments in life end up being some of our fondest memories? I remember throwing toy cars in the toilet to see what they would do, well after I found out what they could do my Dad found out about my expedition. Let's just say after that moment my curiosity was much more selective lol. Sometimes we have to take ourselves back to those grimy and un fun times that presented challenges and turbulent times for us. If you are able to find time to read this blog however, you must be able to look back at several of those 'hard times' and laugh. Stevie took us back to his days and allowed us to get lost in his reminiscing. Now it's time for you to find solace in the past tense of previous troubles. " you grow up and learn that kind of thing ain't right, but while you were doing it- it sure felt outta sight" - Stevie Wonder
holla at ya boy!
